Our Commitment

The City of Covington, Louisiana aims to make this municipal website usable by as many people as possible, including residents and visitors who use assistive technology. We design for clear language, keyboard access, sufficient color contrast, and readable structure.

What We Do

Standards

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II, the City of Covington must make web content accessible to people with disabilities. The technical standard is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We also work toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA where practical for a municipal information site. Some linked third-party tools (water billing, recreation registration, calendars, and employee portals) are operated by other vendors and follow their own accessibility practices.

Covington (population under 50,000) must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA for city web content by April 26, 2028, per the U.S. Department of Justice final rule.
